Co2 DetectorPosted on March 11, 2010. Do CO2 detectors and smoke detectors wear out and must be replaced? Ive had the same CO2 detector for over 10 years. Do they Smoke / CO detectors have a lifespan of 7 years. This is 7 years from the date of manufacture, not 7 years from the date of first use. I suggest to replace them after every 5 years or more. In my state, there is a code of fire safety to replace them every ten years in commercial and industrial. I replace mine every 6 years.
