quality experience with the Goodman furnace and central air? I replaced my gas forced air heating and the addition of central air. The oven will be a 115,000 btu, 95% efficiency and the air is 4 tons 13 SEER. My choice is between the low price of units Goodman and Trane or Lennox units at a price considerably higher. They all have the same security and performance evaluations. Has anyone had an experience that suggests that I should not go with the cheaper product? I install myself and Goodman offers videos and other technical support craft that other brands do not offer.
I am a contractor cooling Goodman and I only use. You're not comparing apples with apples. Check 13 and 14 SEER Goodman. 10 year parts and labor, including the compressor. Goodman also allow you to extend the warranty of 5 years. If you must repair the equipment Goodman is easiest to get parts and the cost for the least. Do not buy a name, it is not worth it. Make sure you get the Copeland Scroll, 14 SEER and more.
Goodman is a decent brand, the only problem I had with my man, is when lightning struck power lines on the outside, and even then it was easy to fix, like changing a map in a cabinet instrumantation
Me thinks you should check the size. You need a load calculation done. The furnace and AC are good. Check the ratings page to my HVAC source and you can see how they compare.
I found that Goodman is just as reliable as a more mainstream brands. I have 2 units in my own house. Both are quite effective and costs about $ 1,500 less.
The only consideration is the availability of parts for warranty service, they are a little harder to find, but if you know where, but the original unit, they usually have parties.
In Texas, you must have a CA license purchase one unit that by law. You can sometimes find a repair man to make the final connection, empty the system and load it with the right oils and Freon pretty cheap. Most of them are happy not having to run into the pipe and install the plenum and return air base, etc.. Goodman is like buying a Yugo car. Its "cheap, but lasts until the warranty is up ---- maybe? If it were my money I'd go with Trane.If you are not EPA certified you can not legally buy a unit pre loaded. Have a professional install. Save yourself the headache and enjoy your retirement.
