Hybrid Suv

Hybrid SuvHybrid SUV?

My husband is looking at trading in his 2004 Nissan Xterra SUV for a hybrid ... He does a lot of road work, and Xterra has already 80 thousand miles on it ... and is a gas guzzlers. Looking at different models of SUV hybrids, we decided that the Ford Escape is really the best game for us. It must have an SUV to work, then we cannot downgrade to a car ....

Does anyone have expereince with the Escape Hybrid? Comments? Suggestions?

I'm not sure you would put this much money with a hybrid SUV ... if it makes a lot of city stop-and-go driving you. If so go ahead. But if it's all highway miles, so you would not put a lot more than driving a regular Escape, and you could save several thousand dollars. Hybrids usually work by stopping the gas engine when stopped at a traffic light for example, then restart when you move. If you are driving on the road all the time you cancel this advantage. A leak will get better mpg than regular Xterra and cost thousand less .. but it's your choice.

seems to be a rather nice little SUV. But did he really need?

I mean, you say he needs to work, but how much is it lying around, these things (escapes and Xterra) are not that great.
I think if he was drunk every day, it could almost agree with most things in a full-size car with a folding seat?
