Poor Credit History Credit Cards Uk

Posted on January 14, 2010.
Poor Credit History Credit Cards UkDo banks offer current accounts curr persons with very poor credit history?

Do banks offer current account facilities to customers in the United Kingdom who have very poor credit ratings. Just with all basic banking credit, overdrafts or credit cards.

Go to Natwest, and ask for a step current account (do not get a savings account that you need to maintain a minimum balance of £ 50 to keep the account open).

You get a basic account, and a Solo debit card. You do not get a switch card, credit card, overdraft or anything else that can go into debt.

Almost everyone can get one, even if you have bad credit!

Just go to your local branch, take id such as passport and driver's license, and a couple of utility bills for proof of residence (gas, electricity, water, etc..)

You should not have problems.

DO NOT GO TO NATWEST - they are shit! Flag

I have one with the Woolwich and my credits second horse, do not go near them dodgy 'give 50 quid and we'll get an a / c companies, they usually do fcuk all

Yes, as long as you do not have all the accounts charged off. Even if you have an account charged off you can get a "secure" account at certain banks in which you are given a period (usually 6 months) to pay all accounts charged off at other banks, but if you do not comply, they will close your account. They usually have strict limits, too .. As there may be a monthly fee, they can exert maximum ownership, and there may be a limit to how much you can withdraw at an ATM or use the outlets.

Here in the UK there is something called the "basic bank account" for this purpose.

I suggest the "HALIFAX EasyCash account"

If your credit is really bad, apparently (according to an article I read on fool.co.uk months ago) there are only 3 British banks offering basic bank accounts for people with bad credit that they are bankrupt and has not yet been discharged:

- Barclays
http://www.personal.barclays.co.uk/BRC1/ ...

- Nationwide
http://www.nationwide.co.uk/current_acco ...

- The cooperative bank

But I would try to open an account with a small (like a £ 50 - £ 200 one) "just in case" to give you a bit of a buffer, as my first account (opened in 2001 with NatWest) I don 't get an overdraft with him, and in 2005 when I went once, they hit me with a £ 28 fine for going overdrawn, then kept repeatedly hitting me with £ 28 fines for their £ 28 fines to expose me until they finally got screwed out of £ 258! >: (
I am now much happier with my Halifax current account

If you do not already have a bank account then it is stipulated by law that all banks and building societies have to give you a basic bank account which consists of a payment card that you can use at the ATM but not as a map DBiT. It is up to you to build your history with them. ie if you get your salary PAI in.
