How do I activate my gas fireplace wood in a fireplace ventless with a remote control? I have a regular fireplace without a flue or something ... and natural gas logs. I would like to have a ventless gas fireplace. Should I just buy ventless logs, a remote and close my chimney? Would it be preferable to a direct vent? I try to keep my chimney .. I would like to have doors (which I think I can close the doors for direct-vent), but not all my heat out of the chimney, they are doing.
We had an existing gas line in an existing fireplace. We have made a direct vent that was really easy. They just put the wind "pipes" into your existing chimney and attach it to the flue gas. If you get with a fan, it will blow hot air into the room. Most of these gas inserts are so efficient they can be considered as a source of heat a house.
ventless fireplaces are not good, if someone in your house has asthma. So is not good for pets, including birds. Also not good in small parts. Also ventless can cause moisture problems. It is generally recommended that you have a detector carbomonoxide if you run a ventless fireplace in your home.
Hope this helps a little.
